Scotland in Winter
NASA released this photograph of Scotland under snow, taken yesterday, and it’s too good not to put here.
The weather dominated the early part of today, either because it was brutally cold this morning or because I was out helping new neighbours clear snow and ice from their drive. At various points a number of neighbours came past and chatted and it was all very enjoyable (and socially distanced).
Aside from an excellent A-Ha moment when I cracked last week’s New Scientist cryptic crossword, the day has been routine. I should note the Covid-related news that a lot of people in our street have had their first shot of vaccine today. I assume the vaccination invitations are being issued by postcode.

The only further thing on the Joss Whedon situation that I’ve seen, is that Anthony Stewart Head said he’s saddened by the allegations and that they came as a surprise to him as he hadn’t seen anything untoward. I can well understand that he may well not have if things happened behind closed doors, but he is clear that he believes what his castmates said. Emma Caulfield, who played Anya, reposted SMG’s comments on Instagram with approval but no further comment

For those who follow these things, I am very conscious that I haven’t posted any February 1971 music reviews. Yet.

Music: not from 1971 but 1982, when I was still at University the first time. A lot of pop music entirely passed me by, largely because I didn’t have a telly and only saw what was on in the Student Union where, more often than not, I was playing snooker, badly. I was also working on my Honours dissertation (Initiation and Commitment: the Context and Function of Baptismal Liturgies). I heard a lot of this stuff on jukeboxes, but my attention was elsewhere.
