Absolutely Live
Regular readers will recall that I was less than impressed by Morrison Hotel, and quoted with approval the Melody Maker review of them at the Isle of White Festival as essentially a tedious band. Nonetheless, given that The Doors are, or were, a major band, I tried to give this live set, culled from performances in 1969, a fair listen. After all, I do like LA Woman and their ‘hits’.
I imagine that if you are a fan of The Doors you’ll like this set, but I’m afraid I must concur with Melody Maker. I found the album one-paced and monotonous, and my patience with Jim Morrison wore thin before I got to the end of side two. Reader, I got bored and turned it off.
