My initial thoughts on the first three months of this project resolve into things I’ve already hinted at: there was some great music by people of whom I had never previously heard but a lot of stuff I was looking forward to hearing didn’t do anything for me at all. Moreover, as time went on I was able to assess quite quickly whether what I was listening to was genuinely new (and thus ‘progressive’ or already stuck in an imagined past. I was also reminded just how great Abbey Road was.
Out of that came a list of albums/cds I will look to buy, two of which, Joy of a Toy and Nilsson Sings Newman, are already on the shelf in front of me, as is a replacement copy of The Madcap Laughs. I’ve owned a couple more for years anyway.

- Amon Düül ii : Phallus Dei
- Cannonball Adderley Quintet : Country Preacher
Some of those are difficult and/or expensive to source so it may be a while, and some of them are just ‘nice to have’s, but thirteen plus three already bought is quite a good collection.
