16 January 2022
In my first post in this sequence, I set myself a target for weight loss of 30kg or 66lb. As of this morning, net weight loss since 11 October 2021 is 12.7kg (28lb for North Americans, 2 stones for Brexiteers). That’s 42% of my target achieved – not quite halfway there, but well on the way. Technically, according to the BMI charts, I’m still obese, but not as obese as I was before, so hooray for that.
The main driver in the weight loss has been diet – minimal free sugars, low carb. and, at supper time, half portions. I often skip lunch, too.
So I’m changing my target to a net weight loss of 45kg against a baseline of 11 October 2021. That would take me to my teenage weight. That is, as they say, something of a challenge, but hey, I’m already 28% there. I’m not setting a date on that because the rate of change fluctuates, and once I pick up running again in spring I should add muscle mass which might (or might not) complicate things. But it’s taken three months to get to this stage, so I’d be looking to have made significant progress towards my original target by mid-April, and towards my new target in 6 months time – that is by mid-July.

Congratulations! Be careful about the meal skipping though. A boy’s got to eat!
