Hoping on Mondays
It was cold overnight but we had warm sunshine today, and warmer air. We enjoyed a walk around the Botanics earlier. It was very busy, even with restricted numbers, but also a nice wander now that the plants are responding to spring. And I’m always happy to spot treecreepers.

I bought a couple of pairs of jeans in Debenhams’s closing down sale via their website. I inadvertently ordered the waist size down from my usual. After initially swearing, I thought I could use it as an excuse to drop a trouser size over the next couple of months. As it turns out, they fit me–just. Anyway, I will aim to make them even more comfortable fit in coming weeks, just as soon as this beer and chocolate is finished…

Season 2 of Pennyworth finished with a flourish and a bang. I’ve seen some Batman fanboys and girls getting shirty, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, I made some rude comments about Gangs of London a couple of days ago. I still think it’s an uncomfortable mashup of EastEnders and John Wick, but I find myself enjoying it as time goes on.

Something odd is happening in China: the head of the Chinese Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has made a public comment that their domestic Covid vaccines don’t give a high rate of protection. he’s backtracked somewhat, but the interest is that he said such a thing in public at all. Either he’s a brave man or a more official shift is on its way.
This time last year, after I mused on where we might be after the pandemic, I realised that my thoughts were from a very western perspective. Equally, the World Health Organisation has issued a useful reminder today that, worldwide, things are still getting worse.

Music: sitting here in new blue jeans and green shoes and my thoughts, naturally, turn to Captain Beefheart: Bluejeans and Moonbeams
