Spoon Benders and Lots of Pretty Italian Chicks
The forecast snow hasn’t come, or, at least, not to Edinburgh. That’s not a hardship. Instead we’ve had cold air and bright sunshine, also not a hardship. Not that I’ve done a great deal. After breakfast, I caught the most recent episode of Pennyworth, a programme I’m enjoying. It’s the last episode next week and still no word on a season 3. Meantime, a new trailer for the upcoming Marvel show Loki has dropped and it looks like fun.
A couple of links that caught my eye this morning. The first relates to a recurring theme here of sleep; the second harks back to my post of 9 February (#BeMoreJill) when I contrasted the rapidity of the development of Covid vaccines with the glacial response to HIV/AIDS.

I’m feeling ropey this evening, and have been since this afternoon. As is the way these days, I almost immediately checked my temperature and SpO2 and am happy to say they’re fine. I enjoyed a Thai curry and Landlord bitter earlier so taste and smell are working as they should. I think it is sinuses playing up, either because of changes in air pressure or just randomly. I don’t usually get hay fever and there isn’t enough pollen around for that anyway.
I had a short walk, twice round the block, and enjoyed the cold, clean air, though I’ll probably have a reaction later. The walk was quiet, but I was happy to spot a young-looking fox sitting on a neighbour’s drive, patiently waiting for me to make like Dionne Warwick and walk on by.

Music: I pondered what to post as a tip of the hat to Easter Monday but found myself with something of an embarrassment of riches. So I put together a public playlist on Spotify. There’s no method to my selection, just stuff I like. Two songs are very similar but the treatments are so different I put them both in. One song contains the immortal line:
You come on like a dream, Julian Bream, Lips like David Vine
The playlist is below, as is the lead-off song on it, the late John Prine: Jesus, The Missing Years. Clicking on the link below plays snippets of the songs; you have to go on Spotify for the full thing. Sorry.
