Ring It Off The Wall
Sunday, I believe: I had to check. An unfeasible amount of time today was spent either dealing with mobile phones or snoozing in the recliner, activities that don’t depend on the day.
I opened up the laptop over breakfast, but closed it quite rapidly in the face of people squabbling over election results. That’s a pastime I’ve indulged in before, and no doubt I will again, but I had no stomach for it today. I think it’s because the election results came through yesterday that I’m dislocated: it feels like today should be Saturday.
The mobile phone issue is doing my head in, though. I bought a cheap smart phone as a spare for occasional use. Everything works as I want it to, given that I only need it for a very limited set of things. The one thing it absolutely refuses to do, though, is notify me of incoming WhatsApp messages in real time–I only get notifications when I open the App. Thinking Google was my friend I found at least a dozen suggested solutions relating to permissions, background optimisations, and all kinds of everything. None of them has worked, and for the life of me I can’t figure out why. Since part of the reason for getting it was to have something only for family messages, this is a bummer. A factory reset has been done, but WhatsApp says I can’t try again for six hours. WTF? I have a strong suspicion it will be going back to Tesco.

Music: I had thought about Grateful Dead but have decided against it. Frustrations with mobiles brought Blondie to mind: Hanging On The Telephone.
