Lose Your Dreams And You Will Lose Your Mind
Last night, I saw the comet again, just before I went to sleep. It had been cloudy, but once I put my light off I noticed the sky was clearing, and had a look through binoculars. Neowise was faint–too faint to see by eye in the light pollution of a city, even here on the outskirts, but a strangely reassuring presence. I don’t know why it was reassuring, it is, after all, transient; perhaps it’s something to do with that thing of being part of something bigger.
The good mood continued this morning, again because of a small thing: we had a goldfinch at our birdfeeder, one of the very few we’ve had in nearly a quarter century here. Finches being quite smart when it comes to food, I dare say it will be back. Perhaps it will bring its pals who overfly our garden all the time. We’ve had swifts and swallows overflying a lot too, as well as juvenile buzzards testing their wings.
Some writing was perpetrated this afternoon; not a huge amount, but I’m pleased with what there is of it. Probably a thousand words over the past couple of days. I wrote a (short) 1970 music post too. Yay me 🙂

Music: how about some cheesey 80’s feelgood AOR? Whenever I listen to this stuff, I imagine a producer somewhere trying to figure out how to make music for hot days on the freeway in a convertable, in-car stereo at max. It would come out something like this.
