It’s been a funny old year so far, weather-wise at least. It seems to have been continually grey and wet since I can’t remember when and it insinuates itself into one’s mood. It’s at times like this that you remember that Edinburgh is on the same latitude as Labrador. It doesn’t help that I haven’t had a break since January and I’m starting to feel in need of a freshener of some sort. We’re going to Croatia for a week in October, but that’s still a while away.
There have been a number of things I’ve wanted to post about here, but never quite got around to it. I never did write up our Hong Kong trip; I haven’t picked up on any of the political stuff that’s going on, and even in my geekiest moments I haven’t written about using a Ubuntu phone as part of a trial separation from Android. Perhaps all of these will come along one day.
In the meantime I’ve been playing with cameras, working, and writing odd little stories which are a sort of third cousin twice removed of vampire stories. That’s been fun: I’m currently around 60,000 words in with a few more thousands to go before the sequence is finished, at least in first draft. The few people who have seen them have been positive, which is gratifying. I’m also developing ideas for other stories, at least one of which makes me giggle like an idiot whenever I try and research it further. I make no claims for these tales, by the way, I just enjoy working on them.
More later, honest.

added: I’m also trying to grow out my hair a bit; alas it doesn’t seem to grow as fast as it did when I was eighteen.
