Yesterday lunchtime I sent three documents to a printers in the centre of town and they delivered them to our front door mid-afternoon: great service. The documents were a collection of short stories built around a vampire theme, and two draft novels. I’ve put aside the work in progress for a wee while to revise and edit these documents. I prefer to revise/edit on manuscript copies.
Yesterday evening, and all of today, I’ve been working on the short stories and am about two thirds of my way through a first pass. They’ve had several rounds of revision in the past and I’m pleased to find that they hold up quite well, with most are needing only minimal tweaking. I know this sounds vain, but I’m having the enjoyable feeling of ‘did I really write that?’ This is all part of a process of getting them into tippy-top shape for future self-publication.
A benefit of all this is that the day has flown by and I have rarely troubled myself to have a look at what is going on in the world. I did see, however, that policy has now caught up with science and the UK government is to stop culling badgers and focus on vaccinating cattle and managing livestock movements. It takes effect next year, but good to get some good news.

Music: time for a random record from my shelves. I bought several albums by Sniff’n’the Tears in the late seventies/early eighties. I haven’t played them for some time, but this song sticks in the memory for some reason, cheesy synth effects and all.

With a farmer son in law, in Gloucestershire, whose cows have not had TB problems since culling began combined with his cows being in a barn where badgers can’t have access to them, we have mixed feelings on the subject.
