Riding the Waves to Eternity: Hangin’ with the Cosmic Surfer

Shit Just Got Real

Right on cue, the dramatic did happen, in the form of the updated advice from the government on social contact, travel and isolation. I’d like to think we’ve all been expecting it sooner or later, that it didn’t take anyone by surprise.

We went out for a walk today down at Cramond. There were people out walking but fewer than normal on a bright lunchtime, and we were all distancing. Every overheard snatch of conversation from people we passed was on the same subject.

So far all is well here. I got a feeling earlier I might be coming down with a cold, but it might be broken sleep and tiredness. I also thought I might be developing a temperature, but then realised I was wearing a woolen jumper in a centrally heated house.  Doh! The background-level anxiety is still there, though.

I saw episode 1 of Westworld season 3 earlier and enjoyed it. I also spent time typing up revisions to the m/s of the novel I’ve mentioned previously. I really need to get back into the sequel: I’ve written myself into a corner and need to unwind and start bits of it again. At present it looks like I’m going to have time on my hands to do it. Right now my only angst is about my weekly treat to myself–New Scientist magazine. I won’t be able to go read it in the library and it will be harder to drop down to the shops every Thursday. The obvious answer is a subscription, but that assumes continuing production of the magazine for the duration.
